The art of Twisting Threads
The thread workshop, or the art of twisting threads, is in a typical craft studio in the Sassi, carved entirely out of tufa rock, and is led by Ms Lina, a master craftswoman who, with her skilful hands, has been making and unmaking loom, knitted, needlework or crocheted clothes and accessories inspired by the traditions, history and culture of the area since over 50 years.
By weaving the threads, you will be able to express your creativity and make your own small artefact, to keep as a souvenir. It is ideal for those who want to relive the typical atmosphere of the Matera ‘neighbourhood’, in a magical context of social sharing and interaction.

Directing the workshop, as well as our work, will be Biagio, an architect and ceramist from Lucania who, in his workshop, creates design objects with the raw material wisely chosen and worked with his own hands.
The object that will gradually take shape can be customised and will represent your indelible memory of the most authentic Lucania.
The workshop offered here is the ideal experience to combine with a guided tour of the Sassi of Matera.
